10/18/2024 - There's a first time for everything.

Here we are, first blog post. I bet it's going to take me a while to get used to these types of posts. Almost journal like, very different from the kinds of stuff I tend to see on social media. But that's the idea! I'm tired of being drip fed content, and I'm tired of feeling like that's the only kind of material that makes browsing worth while. I want to be able to make something good! I want to write a short essay on something and not feel like I'm ranting because the medium that I'm posting on has devolved to a series of skibidi toilet videos! So that's what I'm going to do.

As I build this website, I'm downsizing my social media by a boatload. I'd gotten rid of TikTok ages ago - I could really feel my brain slipping away from me. Just yesterday, I sent in my request to downlaod my data from Instagram and Facebook - and deleted instagram while I was at it. My instagram used to be a small social circle of people that i followed, but the way instagram tries to 'reccomend' sites to me changed. Instagram had gotten to the point where I was seeing more reccomended content than the actual content I was following in the first place. I feel like that kind of defeats the purpose of following pages at all.

I can't really delete my facebook until I double check and make sure that I have all the contact details for everyone I've got on there that I'd like to keep contact with. A lot of them, I only talk to them thru Facebook. I remember that, in high school, that used to be how we'd link up with just about anyone. Even some of my more distant family, I don't have their numbers, just connected thru facebook.

I guess my point is, it all feels so distant, you know? All this social media feels more antisocial than anything. So if you need me I'll be here digging my hole.
