For a good while, I've been pretty interested in the idea of making a video essay style youtube channel. Not for anything in particular, or any set topic; but just to see if I can't make content that people enjoy listening to. Mayvbe I'll post some motivational stuff, or whatever strikes my fancy at the time. Just seems like it would be nice to put my voice out there, you know?
The main style of video essay I'm seeing a lot of is some gameplay with the audio from the youtuber's recording played on top. I suppose the concept is to be more like a background noise type of video, and if you want to watch some gameplay while you're tuned in, enjoy. And honestly, that sounds just fine to me. After all, this isn't some large scale production meant to serve up advertisments.
As I'm writing this, I've already recorded about an hour's worth of Jak and Dax for the background. Luckily, I can run that game on my phone, so I've recorded it and done all the trimming during my downtime at work. Here soon I'll start writing up an essay for... whatever it is that I feel like talking about.
